Assam woman's murder: absconded husband arrested from Arunachal Pradesh

PERINTHALMANNA: Mankada police have arrested Assam native 33-year old Chafiar Rahman, on the case of strangling his wife to death at a rented house in Elachola, Mankada. He was arrested from a hideout on the Chinese border in Arunachal Pradesh.

Husnara Begum, a native of Assam, was found dead in her room on the evening of March 9. Her husband and children were not present at the scene of crime. During the police investigation, it was learned that they had boarded the train from Palakkad railway station to Chennai. Mankada Inspector U K Shahjahan has suspected that they might have left for Assam. So he went to Assam along with investigation team to capture him. The investigation, which focused on relatives and friends, revealed that the accused was hiding near Chinese border. He was taken into custody with the help of local police after a a long week of investigation. The accused who was brought to Mankada was produced in court and remanded.

The accused, who suspected that his wife was having an extramarital affair, had been arguing over his wife's phone calls.She was strangled to death while the children were asleep.There were wounds on the neck also. Then the body was covered with a blanket. The next morning he turned off his mobile phone and escaped with the children. He told the children that their mother was asleep and would come back later.
