DGP orders probe against police officials who received big sum of money from Monson Mavunkal

KOCHI: An investigation is underway against the police officers who took lakhs of money from Monson Mavunkal, the accused in the antiquities fraud case. It was found that Metro Inspector Ananthalal and Meppadi SI AB Vipin had received a huge amount. DGP Anil Kant has ordered a departmental inquiry against the officials.

It was found that Metro Inspector Ananthalal had received Rs 1 lakh and Meppadi SI AB Vipin got Rs 1.3 lakh. Ernakulam District Crime Branch SP is in charge of the investigation. The money was handed over to them by Joshi, Monson's aide, and accused in a POCSO case.

During the preliminary interrogation, they told the Crime Branch that they borrowed money from Monson.
