Bank employees’ negligence; 85-year-old spends night trapped in bank locker

HYDERABAD: An incident, similar to a movie story, occurred at a bank in Hyderabad last day. An 85-year-old man got trapped in a bank locker for a whole night. The bank staff had accidently locked him inside a highly-secured locker. The staff had found him inside the locker room, only the next morning, when they came to open the bank. The old man, identified as V Krishna Reddy, had to spend an entire night in the locker.

Reddy, a resident of Jubilee Hills Road No 67, went to the Union Bank Branch in the Banjara Hills area around 4.30 pm on Monday to collect some property from the locker. The bank staff who sent him inside forgot about him. By evening, the security staff shut the bank and left. Reddy, who suffers from diabetes and other illnesses, was forced to spend a night inside the bank locker.

The old man was found exhausted in the locker. He was soon hospitalized by the police. Reddy’s family had lodged a complaint with the Jubilee Hills police as he failed to return home.
