THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As the crescent moon was sighted at Parappanangadi beach, Ramadan fasting will begin tomorrow in the state. The announcement was made by Panakkad Sadiqali Shihab Thangal. Earlier, Palayam Imam VP Shuhaib Moulavi and Kerala Jamiyyathul General Secretary Thodiyoor Kunjumoulavi had announced that Ramadan would begin in southern Kerala following the sighting of the crescent moon in Puthuppetta, Tamil Nadu.

The Mujahideen sections had announced yesterday that the start of the fast would be on Sunday as the crescent moon was not seen. The Sunni community did not announce their decision. Ramadan fasting had begun in Saudi Arabia and UAE and Egypt yesterday.
