KYIV: Ukraine has formulated a new tactic to counter Russian attacks. It has promised huge rewards for the Russian soldiers who deliver ammunition to the country’s troops. The Ukraine parliament has also passed a law regarding the same.
As per the new law, rewards of up to 1 million dollars (Rs 7,55,35,500) have been offered for defecting Russian soldiers who can hand over a warship or a combat aircraft of the country’s army. For a compact helicopter, a soldier may receive abot 500 thousand dollars (Rs 3 crore) as reward. In case of military ships, a soldier will receive two lakh dollars (Rs 1 crore). Those Russian soldiers giving up a tank or ground artillery will be rewarded with one lakh dollars (Rs 75 lakh).
The bill also includes five lakh dollars for a combat helicopter and a reward of 50,000 dollars (Rs 37 lakh) for handing over armoured personnel carrier and military trucks. For a reactive volley fire system, one may receive around 25,000 to 35,000 dollars. All military trucks will have a reward of 10,000 dollars.
“There are many willing soldiers who want to replenish their financial status. We do not see anything wrong here, if they surrender not just individually, but also with their equipment”, said first vice-speaker of the Ukrainian parliament Oleksandr Kornienko.
