HYDERABAD: It has been confirmed that cocaine was used in a rave party held illegally in a luxury hotel participating numerous prominent people including celebrities. In connection with the incident, the police had earlier arrested Anil Kumar, the pub manager and Abhishek Vuppala, a partner at the bar.
A case has also been taken against Arjun Veeramachineni, co-owner of the pub. He is currently in Kolkata and will be questioned immediately on his return, said the police. The drug party was held at a pub in Radisson Blu Hotel, Banjara Hills. A special investigation team of the police force had conducted a raid in the pub in the pre-dawn hours on Sunday.
Cocaine has been seized from the pub. The police have taken into custody around 150 people, including a film actor’s daughter, former DGP’s son, famous singer and an MP’s son, in connection with the incident. They were allowed to leave after interrogation. Some of their blood samples have also been collected.
The party was organized in the pub at midnight by misusing bar license, said the police. Initially, the pub employees had said that drugs were not distributed in the party. However, cocaine was seized amid further investigation. The police have also recovered several other packets from the pub.
The pub employees had earlier claimed that the packets contained sugar. However, lab test reports confirmed that the powder seized was cocaine. Meantime, the police also clarified that not all people who attended the party had used drugs.
The registration to the rave party was via a mobile application. After registering name and details on the app, it will be confirmed through an OTP. Following which, one will be allowed entry into the pub.
