Opposition blocks mayor's car, pours muddy water on it

THRISSUR: Alleging that 'muddy' water was being distributed through the drinking water pipe in the Thrissur corporation, a number of Congress councillors blocked the Mayor during the corporation council and poured muddy water over his car. Congress councillors Srilal and Mefi were injured while they tried to stop the car.

A dispute broke out between the ruling and opposition parties after councillor AK Suresh, who was protesting in front of the car, was forcibly dragged away by the ruling party's PK Shajan and Anees Ahmed. Meanwhile, the Congress accused the mayor of trying to kill the protesters by hitting them with a car.

The dramatic scenes took place at 4 pm yesterday. Congress councillors stormed into the mayor's chamber and staged a sit-in protest by alleging that muddy water was coming out through the pipe. As the mayor got into his car, the Congress councillors blocked the car and poured muddy water onto it.
