THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Vigilance conducted a lightning search in a police night patrol vehicle and seized unaccounted money. The raid was carried out following information received by the Director of Vigilance that officers on a night patrol vehicle from the Parassala police station were extensively collecting money from vehicles crossing the border.
Vigilance stopped the night patrol vehicle of Parassala station at 4 am on Thursday and found unaccounted money amounting to Rs 13,960. Rs 100, Rs 200 and Rs 500 notes were piled up under the driver's seat. Vigilance South Superintendent Jayashankar said departmental action would be recommended against driver Anil Kumar and grade SI Jyothish Kumar, who were on night patrol duty.
The lightning inspection was carried out by Inspector Vinesh Kumar and Binu Balak, Assistant Controller (General) of Legal Metrology, Thiruvananthapuram. Grade SI Shaji R and civil police officers Sijumon and Subhash were also in the group.
