Delay in preparation of LDC, Last Grade rank lists

psc

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Proceedings for preparation of rank lists of LD Clerk and Last Grade Servants examinations conducted by PSC for various departments are delayed. The PSC had announced that the probability list for the LD Clerk examination would be published by March. However, it is learned that no decision has been taken on the number of candidates to be included in the rank list to be published at the district level.

In the past, the rank lists had featured candidates that were three times the number of vacancies. The supplementary list used to feature candidates that were five times the number of vacancies. Last year, the government had found itself on the defensive when a large number of candidates, who got featured in the rank list, went on to protest after not getting the jobs. Therefore, the government had suggested that candidates should be included in the rank list only in proportion to the number of vacancies.

The PSC had asked the government to report the existing and expected vacancies in the posts of LD Clerk and Last Grade Servants. However, it is alleged that most of the departments have a negative attitude towards it. Delay in getting information on the number of vacancies will lead to a delay in publishing the probability list and then the rank list.

The first general examination for LD Clark and Last Grade was held in February and March 2021 and the main examination was held in November and December. The Staff Selection Commission and UPSC, which implement a two-tier system for competitive examinations, make appointments within a year of the publication of the notification.
