NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) approached the Supreme Court seeking to quash the bail granted to Bineesh Kodiyeri in the money laundering case in a drug deal. The ED informed the court that there is conclusive evidence against Bineesh in the money laundering case. Bineesh was granted bail by the Karnataka High Court in October last year.

Mukesh Kumar Maroria, advocate of centre, filed the plea in the Supreme Court on behalf of the ED. The ED approached the apex court against Bineesh after detailed discussions. Crucial evidence against Bineesh was obtained in the beginning itself but the Karnataka High Court was not prepared to take this evidence into account. A big amount was deposited in four bank accounts in the name of Bineesh. The plea said Bineesh was not able to show the source of it. The ED added in the crucial petition that the depositors were asked to appear for questioning but none of them arrived.

Bineesh had told officials that he had a business of selling fruits, vegetables and fish and that the money was from it, but he could not produce the clear evidence of it.
