Youth who hacked parents to death surrenders; dispute in planting mango saplings led to murder

THRISSUR: A 38-year-old-youth who hacked his parents to death surrendered here Monday. The dead has been identified as Subran alias Kuttan (68) and his wife Chandrika (62) of Puthucaud in Thrissur. The couple’s son Aneesh had fled after committing the crime.

Aneesh fled to Thiruvananthapuram after the murder. He surrendered before the commissioner’s office early morning at 2 am when a search was intensified focusing his mobile phone. His arrest has been registered. The police will collect evidence with him.

The accused told police that some problems broke out at times. He told police that his parents decided to plant mango saplings in the courtyard of their house. Aneesh who opposed this hit his mother on her head and then hacked his father with a machete. He hacked his mother when she tried to flee the place.

Aneesh, a bachelor was in the Gulf for eight years. After returning home, he bought a car and was driving it in Ernakulam. He is presently working as a salesman for a coconut oil company in Viyur. Police said the family had no contact with the neighbours.
