Major bureaucratic reshuffle: More charges given to M Sivasankar, Jyothilal back in public administration department

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There is a major reshuffle in the bureaucratic level. The government has decided to give the charge of public administration department to additional chief secretary K R Jyothilal again.

M Sivasankar, principal secretary, sports department, has been given additional responsibilities. He has also been given the responsibility of animal husbandry and dairy development.


K S Srinivas is the new principal secretary of the fisheries department. Tinku Biswal has been appointed principal secretary, food and civil supplies. Ajit Kumar is the new secretary of the public works department. Priyanka has been appointed as the director of women and child development.

Sarada Muraleedharan, additional chief secretary, local self-government, has been given additional charge of the IT department. IT Secretary Biswanath Sinha has been given charge of the planning and economic affairs department. Biswanath will also be the member secretary of the planning board.


Jyothilal, public administration secretary, lost his post following pressure tactics played by Governor Arif Mohammad Khan without signing the policy address speech. The Governor signed it only after shifting Jyothilal.


Jyothilal, secretary of public administration department, informed government’s dissent over the appointment of Hari S Kartha, a journalist and BJP state committee member, to the governor’s personal staff, through a letter.

The letter pointed that Raj Bhavan has not appointed people active in politics or loyal to political parties or party-affiliated organizations. The governor was even more irked as the letter was also leaked to the media from the government. It was then the governor decided not to sign the policy address speech.
