KOTTAYAM: Former health minister and congress leader M P Govindan Nair (94) passed away Wednesday morning. He died at his residence in Erayilkadavu in Kottayam. He was leading a retired life for quite some time and died of old age ailments.
He was health minister in the R Sankar cabinet in 1962. He had served as Vijayapuram panchayat president, advocate, NSS representative and Travancore devaswom board president. From 1950 to 2019 he was active in the legal profession.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan offered his condolences on the death of Nair.
