THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Congress leader P J Kurien will stay away from the political affairs committee meeting. He is abstaining from the meet soon after criticising Rahul Gandhi the other day. Kurian has cited personal reasons for not attending the meet.
Kurien had sharply criticised Rahul Gandhi. Kurien had alleged that Rahul was an unstable leader and a man who once dumped the party. Someone other than Rahul should become the party president. One from the Nehru family need not become the president, Kurian said in an interview given to a weekly.
‘Rahul is against appointing another Congress president. Rahul's decisions were made only after consultation with the caucus. They are inexperienced. He left the post during crisis because of instability. As the captain, Rahul is running away from his responsibilities and that is why the party suffered heavy setbacks including in the elections,’ alleged Kurien.
Kurien had stated that Rahul was still taking policy decisions. The Congress has degenerated into a party without discussions. Although there are a number of senior leaders, Congress is not becoming a venue for everyone to share their views, blamed Kurien.
