THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Lashing out at the opposition for the protest against the SilverLine project, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday said that there was no point in saying anything to those who oppose the development plan. He also said that the LDF had promised development that would touch all areas in its manifesto. The Chief Minister was speaking at a political campaign meeting organized by the LDF in the capital to counter misleading propaganda against SilverLine.

The CM said that development was needed for the sake of the next generation and that it was unfortunate that some were coming out in protest. "The Kerala model of development is exemplary. Development worth Rs 50,000 crore was promised through KIIFB. However, the development worth Rs 60,000 crore has already taken place. The condition of the national highways in the state was really bad. The state government managed to resolve the problem after holding discussions with the Union Minister," the CM said.

"The right-wing in Kerala has a tradition of taking an anti-development stance. The opposition is trying to pull the state back to the nineteenth century.
If they do not correct themselves now, people will correct them. The Centre's position on the K-Rail changed with the LDF achieving continuity of rule in the state. Some organizations oppose all development projects. They are trying to ignite communalism. The government is not ready to make a compromise with any communal force and will suppress such attempts," the CM added.
