India records steep rise in Covid cases, 2067 contract disease in last 24 hours

NEW DELHI: India registered a sharp rise in Covid cases in the last 24 hours. 2067 people have been diagnosed with the disease. 40 Covid deaths were also reported. According to the Union Ministry of Health, there are presently 12,340 active cases in the country.

The daily test positivity rate in the country is 0.49 per cent and weekly positivity rate is 0.38 per cent. 1,547 people recovered from the disease the other day. The cure rate is 98.76%. Meantime, the ministry of health said that 186.90 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been distributed in the country so far.

The 40 new fatalities include 34 from Kerala, three from Maharashtra, and one each from Uttar Pradesh, Mizoram and Nagaland.


A total of 5,22,006 deaths have been reported so far in the country including 1,47,830 from Maharashtra, 68,649 from Kerala, 40,057 from Karnataka, 38,025 from Tamil Nadu, 26,160 from Delhi, 23,502 from Uttar Pradesh and 21,200 from West Bengal.
