THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government will not always pay salaries to KSRTC, said Transport Minister Antony Raju. The KSRTC should self-generate revenue for their employees. All public sector undertakings should find their own finances, opined the minister.

The transport minister also said that the contract for Scania buses leased for long-distance services will not be extended. Organisations including those owing allegiance to the government had announced a strike on April 28 over non-payment of wages even on Vishu Day. However, soon after disbursing the full salary, various organizations withdrew from the indefinite strike at the Secretariat. The issue is being discussed with the trade unions at 3 pm today.

Meantime, it has been hinted that the salaries of those who have not taken 20 duties a month will be disrupted. Between 300 to 350 services are disrupted daily. The salary bill of those who have not taken 20 duties will be considered only after the 5th of next month and that is why the delay.
