What power does the government have to control? High Court tells Devaswom Board to take over Sabarimala virtual queue

sabarimala

KOCHI: The Kerala High court on Friday directed the Travancore Devaswom Board to take over the virtual queue system for Sabarimala darshan. Earlier, the court had asked what power the police had to set up and control the virtual queue system in Sabarimala. The court issued the order on various petitions demanding that the virtual queue system should be handed over to the Devaswom Board.

The court questioned the role of the government and the police in temple affairs. The court observed that the Devaswom Board, as the temple trustee, has the power to indulge in temple affairs.

At the same time, the government argued that there was no malice in the introduction of the virtual queue system and that it was introduced for enabling a smooth darshan for the devotees
