BENGALURU: It is difficult for travelers from states like Kerala and Maharashtra who did not take two doses of Covid vaccine to enter Karnataka. But statistics show that Karnataka, which is so enthusiastic about restricting travelers from other states, is not so strict about their own people.
As of April 23, not a single person from general category in 15 districts of Karnataka has taken the third dose of Covid vaccine. The age group of 18 to 59 years belongs to general category. People from Bellary, Bagalkot, Hassan, Raichur, Mandya, Bidar, Chitradurga, Kolar, Haveri, Koppal, Chikballapur, Gadag, Yadgir, Chamarajanagar and Ramanagar districts have not yet taken the third dose of Covid vaccine. Meanwhile, in Vijayapura district, three people were vaccinated with the third dose for the first time on Saturday.
It is believed that the reason why people hesitate to take the vaccine is because the third dose is not free. Hospitals in Karnataka charge Rs 389 for third dose of vaccine. In addition, most hospitals are experiencing a shortage of vaccines. State health officials said no private hospital in Bellary had placed a new order for Covid vaccine. Apart from the fact that the vaccine is not free, the authorities believe that scarcity is also a reason for this situation.
