BENGALURU: Amid the religious disputes over hijab and halal, a Bengaluru school has sparked another controversy. As per reports, Clarence High School in the capital city, has made it compulsory for students to carry the Bible to the school. The school authorities have directed the parents not to object to the rule. The parents are also made to sign a declaration in this regard at the time of admission.

Several right wing organizations have responded in the issue stating that the school’s action is in violation of the state’s educational law. There are non-Christian students who are studying in the school who are forcefully made to learn Bible, alleged Hindu Janajagruti Samithi state spokesperson Mohan Gowda.

Meantime, the school authorities have come forward justifying their move. In the admission application form for Grade 11, there is a parents’ declaration according to which parents should not object to their children attending classes including morning assembly scripture class and clubs, they said.

The move aims to improve the moral and spiritual welfare of the children, said the school management. Recently, discussion over the inclusion of the Bhagavad Gita in school curriculums in the state had led to a great controversy. The chief minister had said that a decision would be taken in the matter after discussions.
