NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has convened a meeting of Chief ministers in the wake of rising Covid cases in some states. The meeting will be held tomorrow at 12 noon via video conference. The Prime Minister convened the meeting to assess the Covid situation, the preparation in health sector and the current state of vaccine supply.

Wearing masks has again become mandatory in states of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka. There were 2,483 confirmed Covid cases in the country in the last 24 hours. The day before it was 2,541 people.

The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has given restricted emergency use authorization to India’s indigenously developed Covaxin for children between the age of six to twelve years. The DCGI had earlier granted permission to use Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin on those aged above 12 years, last year.

The DCGI's Subject Expert Committee (SEC) had yesterday asked Bharat Biotech to submit more information on the administration of Covaxin to children between the ages of two and twelve.
