Nine districts in the state likely to receive thundershowers in next three hours

KOCHI: The Central Meteorological Department has warned of thundershowers in nine districts in the next three hours. Isolated showers are expected in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kasaragod districts. The warning said winds could reach up to 40 kmph.

Thundershowers and strong winds are expected in the state till Monday. The Central Meteorological Department has warned of strong winds of up to 40 kmph.

The chance of thunderstorms is high between 2pm and 10pm. Move to a safe building as soon as you notice the first sign of thunder. Staying in open areas will increase the risk of thunderstorms. Windows and doors should be closed during periods of strong winds and thunderstorms. Do not stand near doors and windows. Sit inside the building and try not to touch the wall or floor as much as possible. The electrical connection of the appliances should be disconnected. The warning also said that if the weather is cloudy from 2pm to 10pm, children should avoid playing in the open air and on the terrace.
