Three children drown in lake in Chavakkad

THRISSUR: Three children drowned in a shrimp pond near a lake at Orumanayoor near Chavakkad. The incident took place at around 5.45 pm today. The children drowned while taking bath in the pond. The deceased has been identified as Surya (16), Muhsin (16) and Varun (16).

According to sources, the children drowned in a shrimp pond near the lake after getting trapped in mud. A total of 5 children had ventured into the waterbody to take bath. Two of them later came out of the pond and went to their homes. The other three drowned in the mud. The bodies were already recovered by locals by the time the firefighters arrived at the spot.
