Malayali shot dead in Oman; deceased identified as Kozhikode native

MUSCAT: A Malayali NRI was shot dead at Salalah in Oman. The deceased has been identified as Kozhikode Perambra native Moideen (56). The incident took place at Khadeeja Masjid in Salalah at around 10 am today.

A gun was found near the body. Police are yet to find out the person who fired the shots. Moideen had arrived at the mosque in the morning. Moideen's body was discovered by a man who arrived at the mosque. Prayers at the mosque were suspended following the incident. Police have launched an investigation.

Moideen, who had been living in Salalah for the past 30 years, was an employee of a private company. The body is currently kept at a nearby government hospital. Wife: Aisha, children: Nasser, Bushra and Afsat. Sons-in-law: Salam and Shamsuddin.
