KOCHI: No complaint has been lodged against actor and producer Vijay Babu in the new MeToo allegation, said Kochi city police commissioner. Such an allegation was spotted on social media. If a complaint is lodged, then we will register a case and investigate, he told the media.

The investigation officials are of the view that there is a possibility of further complaints against Vijay Babu and that it could aid the probe of the current case. Meantime, there is progress in the investigation into the rape case. After monitoring the accused’s move, action will be taken including the cancellation of his passport. The consideration of the anticipatory bail plea is not an obstacle for arrest. We expect that the accused will surrender. We will even go abroad, if necessary, said the commissioner.

There has been no delay in the investigation. The complaint was lodged on April 22. An FIR was registered on that night and attempts were made to find the actor. Vijay Babu fled the country on April 24. The police have sent a notice to the actor’s house, asking him to surrender, he said.
