MUMBAI: All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has decided to step down as the captain of the Chennai Super Kings franchise. Jadeja has returned the captaincy to former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The franchise made it clear through its official Twitter account that the decision was made in the broader interests of the team.

It is learned that Jadeja took the decision after the team suffered a series of losses in the ongoing tournament. Chennai has played eight matches this season and has won just two.

CSK, which is placed ninth in the table with four points, can make it to the playoff only if it wins the remaining six matches.
