KOCHI: Actress Malaa Parvathi has said that the decision to exclude Vijay Babu out of the A.M.M.A executive committee till the end of the rape case is not acceptable. The actress' reaction came after her resignation from the Internal Complaints Commission (ICC) of A.M.M.A.
Malaa Parvathi said that the action taken by the committee was wrong. A.M.M.A's vice president Shweta Menon and another member Kuku Parameswaran had tendered their resignations. The ICC has demanded the removal of Vijay Babu from the Executive Council. Vijay Babu had written a letter to A.M.M.A saying that he has decided to stay away from the executive committee. Malaa Parvathi said that they did not think it was possible to accept this.
Revealing the name of a survivor is not like telling a joke to friends at home. It cannot be accepted on any basis. Vijay Babu cannot be expelled from A.M.M.A as happened in the case of Dileep. But Vijay Babu should be expelled from the Executive Council of which he is a member. A person who has committed such a crime is not entitled to remain in such a position. If the actor had left the executive committee on A.M.M.A's request, I would not have resigned. It cannot be argued that the complaint was not received in this matter. The actress also clarified that A.M.M.A had the authority to take voluntary action.
The actress said that actor Sudhir Karamana had asked her not to resign. Malaa Parvathi said that the ICC was set up as per the directions of the Supreme Court and was therefore bound to abide by the directives.
