Royal second day, PM Mette Frederiksen arrives to welcome Modi in Denmark

COPENHAGEN: A warm welcome for Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Denmark, on the second day of his Europe visit. When Indian Prime Minister landed in Copenhagen, he was received at the airport by his Danish counterpart Mette Frederiksen. Modi shared a picture of the same on Facebook. “This visit will go a long way in cementing India-Denmark ties”, he wrote.

Modi has arrived in Denmark following his Germany visit. He will stay in Denmark on Tuesday and will arrive in France on Wednesday. Modi is scheduled to meet with the business community at the India-Denmark Business Roundtable, the Indian diaspora, and later Queen Margaret of Denmark. According to estimates, there are around 16,000 people of Indian descent in Denmark.

India aims to strengthen cooperation with Nordic countries namely Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland in the areas of climate change, innovation and information technology. According to government figures, the country’s trade with the region is estimated to be five billion US dollars. More than 200 Danish companies are engaged in schemes like Make in India. Denmark Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen had visited India in October, last year.
