THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Despite the Supreme Court order to return theaccused within two weeks after the Covid parole, 809 people, including the accused in TP murder case are yet to return to the state jails. On April 29, the apex court rejected a petition filed by a group of inmates, including the accused in the TP case, seeking extension of parole.

A group of prisoners, with the help of some organizations, approached the Supreme Court against the government's ultimatum to return the accused by September 26, 2021. The court then ordered special parole for those sentenced to more than 10 years. But the major offenders who joined the party in the petition also obtained the benefit of parole. The period of special parole was extended to ten months.
