THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police will approach the court today seeking cancellation of the bail granted to senior leader and former MLA P C George in connection with his controversial statement against the Muslims. The plea will be filed at the Thiruvananthapuram first class magistrate court.

The police will inform the court that George violated bail conditions and did not hear the prosecution's arguments when bail was granted. The court had earlier criticized the police for arresting him. They were criticised for not explaining the reason for the arrest.

George had sparked off a controversy by asking non-Muslims in Kerala to avoid restaurants run by the community. George's controversial statement was at the Ananthapuri Hindu Maha Sammelan organized by the Hindu Maha Parishad in Thiruvananthapuram. George said Muslims were trying to increase their population and turning into a Muslim country and that Hindus should not buy goods from the shops of Muslims.
