Thrissur Pooram will be used to promote Kerala tourism; Rs 15 lakhs sanctioned for security arrangements, says Mohammed Riyaz

THRISSUR: An amount of Rs 15 lakhs has been sanctioned from the tourism department for Thrissur Pooram’s security arrangements, said Minister Mohammed Riyaz, while talking to the media after the meeting at Ramanilayam. Thrissur Pooram will be used to promote Kerala tourism, added the minister.

Thrissur Pooram is a festival that attracts even the world tourism. Hence, the tourism department sees Pooram as very special. It is the government’s decision to give significance to the Pooram. That is why, for the first time in history, it has been decided to give such a huge amount for the festival, said the minister. Thrissur Pooram will aid the growth of Kerala’s tourism sector, he added. Meantime, the Vadakkumnathan Temple advisory committee honoured Minister Mohammed Riyaz for allocating Rs 15 lakhs for the Pooram.
