Provocative statements: Tajinder Bagga arrested by Punjab police; rescued by Haryana, Delhi police

kk

NEW DELHI: Punjab BJP leader Tajinder Pal Bagga, who was arrested by the Punjab police in Delhi on charges of inciting communal hatred, was later released by the Haryana Police and handed over to the Delhi Police. The Punjab and Haryana High Court will hear the petition of the Punjab Police against this today.

It was the political battle between the Aam Aadmi Party, which rules Punjab and Delhi, and the BJP, which rules the Centre and Haryana, that led to the dramatic events on Friday. The dramatic moments were created by Punjab, Delhi and Haryana police forces.

Bagga was arrested from his residence in Janakpuri here over a case filed in Punjab where the national secretary of the BJP's youth wing was accused by the Aam Aadmi Party of threatening Delhi's chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. The Punjab police said that they had sent Bagga five notices to join the investigation but he "deliberately" chose not to do so.

Bagga was arrested by Punjab Police earlier today from Delhi. On their way to Mohali, the team was stopped by Haryana cops after the Delhi Police registered a kidnapping case based on a complaint by Bagga's father. Haryana Police surrounded the Punjab Police car carrying Bagga and escorted them off the highway to a police station in Kurukshetra. The Punjab cops were detained.
