Two-bike borne thieves fleeing after snatching woman’s chain meet with accident, one dies on spot

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: One of the two members of a group who were fleeing after snatching a woman’s chain met with an accident and died. Chain snatchers Sajad and Amal met with the accident at Naruvamoodu in the capital city. The dead is Sajad. Amal who sustained injuries has been admitted at the medical college hospital. The incident happened Sunday morning at 6.30 am. The theft took place at Thakkala in Tamil Nadu.

The police said Sajad was a native of Kadinamkulam in Thiruvananthapuram. There is a case against him at the Mangalore police station for chain snatching. The bike in which they were travelling overturned after hitting a divider at Pallichal Paroorkuzhy on the national highway when they were returning after the theft. Sajad died on the spot itself. They were travelling in a bike with no number plate. The theft unravelled with the discovery of a gold chain without a clasp. In a police investigation it was found that the two who met with the accident had snatched a woman’s gold chain of 11.5 sovereigns in Thakkala. The statement of Amal undergoing treatment will be recorded. He is a native of Kottayam. The chain snatched is in the hands of Amal.
