Thrikkakara bypoll: Uma Thomas arrives in cycle rickshaw, LDF candidate Jo Joseph first files nomination papers

KOCHI: Uma Thomas, the UDF candidate of Thrikkakara bypoll, has filed her nomination papers. In protest against the fuel price, she arrived in a cycle rickshaw, to file her nomination papers. Hibi Eden, Jebi Mether and DCC president accompanied her.

Dr Jo Joseph, the LDF candidate for the Thrikkakara bypoll, filed the nomination papers in the morning. He filed three sets of nominations. Jose K Mani and M Swaraj were among those who accompanied Jo Joseph, to the collectorate at 11 am, to file his nominations.

BJP candidate A N Radhakrishnan will file his nominations tomorrow. The nomination papers can be filed till May 11. Scrutiny will be on May 12. The last date for withdrawing the nominations is May 16. The elections are on May 31. Votes will be counted on June 3.

The polls are held following the untimely demise of P T Thomas, who was Thrikkakara MLA. Even if it is the sitting seat of the UDF, if it wins this by-election, the LDF will be able to fill 100 seats in the assembly.
