THODUPUZHA: The traffic department will issue a notice to actor Joju George who took part in an off-road ride in Vagamon. The Idukki RTO said that action would be taken against the actor for driving dangerously and that a joint RTO would be appointed to investigate the incident.

The action of the RTO is based on a complaint filed by KSU Idukki district president Tony Thomas against Joju.

Earlier, footage of Jojo taking part in an off-road ride went viral on social media. Jojo participated in a ride organized at the tea garden of the Arappukadu division in Kannamkulam of the MMJ estate in Vagamon. The ride was organized by the Off-Road Association of Kerala. Checks will be made as to whether the ride took place in public or private space. The Idukki RTO said that the organizers had not obtained permission from the Department of Motor Vehicles to organize the event.

The RTO said that there was a ban on off-road races in Idukki by the Collector and the event was organized in defiance of this. The Idukki RTO added that it would take further action after receiving the report of the joint RTO.

At the same time, the organizers said that all security measures were in place and the vehicle was driven by experienced people. They said that as it is a private place, permission need not be obtained and there is no special system in place to give permission for such adventure activities.
