GST officer goes missing, police left clueless even after nine days

KOLLAM: Police are left clueless nine days after the disappearance of N Ajikumar, a state tax officer at the Ernakulam GST office. He set out from a lodge in Ernakulam to his home on the 30th of last month. The case registered by the Kilikollur police on the complaint of the relatives was handed over to the Kakkanad Infopark police three days ago. The relatives have also lodged a complaint with the Chief Minister and the Finance Minister.

Ajikumar moved to Ernakulam from his Punalur office three months ago. One month later, he took two months off for his son's MBBS admission. Though he went back on the 29th to enter work but extended his leave. He had called his wife at 10.30 am on the 30th that he was coming home after vacating his lodge room. After this, the phone was switched off.

Relatives said Ajikumar was contacted by his Punalur office saying the three files had not been handed over when he got transferred. The position of the newly arrived officer was that he would not take up the position without getting these files. The department then sought an explanation from Ajikumar. The relatives said that Ajikumar was upset that he could not find the file despite searching in many places.
