No toilet in husband's house, newly-wed woman, a hospital employee hangs self

CUDDALORE: A newlywed woman hanged herself after her husband did not have functional toilet in his house. The incident took place in Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu yesterday. The deceased has been identified as 27-year old Remya, wife of Karthikeyan, a resident of Arisiperiyankuppam. The couple got married on April 6.

Remya is an employee of a private hospital near her home. Remya had been living in her own house since her marriage as there was no toilet in her husband's house. According to reports, Remya was constantly asking for a toilet and this usually led to a quarrel.

It was Remya's mother who found her daughter hanging from a fan at home. She was rushed to Cuddalore Hospital and later shifted to Pondicherry Jipmer hospital for treatment but her life could not saved. Remya's mother Manjula lodged a complaint and the police registered a case and started an investigation.
