DHAKA: Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan tested positive for Covid-19, which will be a heavy blow ahead of the series against Sri Lanka. With this, Shakib will miss the first match of the two-Test series.
Shakib, who returned from the US on Tuesday, had tested positive in PCR test and in rapid antigen test held before the series. The Bangladesh Cricket Board said he had gone under self isolation and would be re-tested later. Shakib will miss the first Test in Chittagong on May 15. The second test will be played in Dhaka from May 23 to 27. Shakib also missed the series against South Africa due to family issues.
