Major fire in textile shop in Alappuzha; goods worth lakh damaged

ALAPPUZHA: A major fire broke out at a shop in Parumala Mannar. The fire broke out at the shop Metro Silks. The people of the area saw smoke emanating from the shop Thursday morning at 6 am. They immediately informed the police and the fire force.

The fire broke out in the three-storied textile shop. The fire started on the second floor. A godown nearby also caught fire. No casualty has been reported. Attempts are being taken to extinguish the fire.


Initial reports said short circuit is the cause of the fire. The owner said that he went home at 9.30 pm last night after closing the shop. Goods worth lakhs have been damaged.
