Hours long rescue efforts yield no results, body of labourer trapped in well taken out

KOLLAM: Hours long rescue operations could not save the life of the labourer trapped in the well. The body of the labourer was taken out after 25-hour long rescue operations.

Sudheer of Muttakavu was trapped in the well at Thazhuthala in Kollam. Sudheer met with the accident while trying to erect a ring in the well.

The ring like steps inside the well caved in while Sudheer was trying to come out sensing danger.

Heavy rains in the night adversely affected rescue operations. An attempt was first made to dig a pit near the well using a big JCB to bring him out. When it failed, a small JCB was brought for the rescue operations.

Sudheer was trapped in the well of about 65 feet deep. About 35 feet of soil was removed as part of rescue operations.
