UDF has always opposed developmental projects: Pinarayi Vijayan

KOCHI: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday said that instead of supporting development projects, UDF leaders, including MPs, were creating obstacles. Inaugurating the LDF convention at Palarivattom, he said that the UDF has never been able to take a stand in favour of the welfare of the state and its people.

"The K-Rail project will be implemented. When it comes to development, there should be no bias. What matters is where and on which side you stand. The LDF is committed to the development and welfare of the state. Today's opposition has not spoken out in favour of the state's development plans. Six years after the LDF government decided to extend the Metro to Kakkanad, the Centre has not given permission. The UDF MPs, including the Ernakulam MP, did not make any effort to obtain permission. Metro is not about the LDF, it is the need of the people and the state. When the government decided in 2016 to implement projects through KIIFB, the UDF mocked the government. Hundreds of projects were implemented through KIIFB. Development was implemented in all 140 constituencies. The aim of the government is the comprehensive development of Kerala. The people gave approval to this by allowing the LDF to rule once again. LDF's strength in Kerala Assembly stands at 99. The people of Thrikkakara now have the opportunity to help LDF reach 100 and correct its mistakes," the CM said.

He also said that the stations of Metro and K-Rail will come in one building in Thrikkakkara.

The Chief Minister said that Prof. KV Thomas has taken a stand for the development of the state. "He has a long political tradition. He favoured the LDF because it stood for development. When he reached the venue, he said he wanted K-Rail to become a reality," the CM said.
