THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government has announced rewards for the Kerala team that won Santhosh Trophy football title defeating Bengal. The decision was made in the cabinet meeting convened on Friday. A reward of Rs 5 lakh will be given to each player and manager, while Rs 3 lakh will be awarded to the assistant coach, head coach, goalkeeper trainee and manager.
The cabinet announced its decision soon after the chief minister returned from the US. The VPS Healthcare had earlier announced a reward of Rs one crore for the team. Kerala won the Santhosh Trophy after a gap of four years. Both the teams were in a draw of 1-1 during the extra time of the match. With this, Kerala won the match for 5-4 in the penalty shootout.
