UDAIPUR: The BJP is trying to keep the country in a permanent state of polarization, compelling people to live in a constant state of fear and insecurity, said Sonia Gandhi while inaugurating a three-day Chintan Shivir in Rajasthan's Udaipur, on Friday.
“The Narendra Modi-led government is brutalizing minorities of India and glorifying Mahatma Gandhi’s killers. The BJP’s slogan means keeping the country in a permanent state of polarization, compelling people to live in a constant state of fear and insecurity, viciously targeting, victimizing, and brutalizing minorities who are an intrinsic part of our society and equal citizen of our republic”, Sonia said.
“The Nav Sankalp Chintan Shivir gives us an opportunity to discuss amongst us the numerous challenges that the country is facing as a result of the policies of the BJP, RSS and its affiliates. It is also an occasion to deliberate on the many tasks ahead of us. It is both a Chintan about national issues and aatmachintan about our party's organizational structure", she added.
The three-day Shivir has been organized to focus on time-bound party restructuring, finding ways to combat politics of polarization and getting ready for upcoming electoral challenges. Around 422 leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, are attending the Chintan Shivir. It will end on Sunday with a significant announcement. The Shivir will include discussions on various topics such as politics, social justice, economics, organization, farmers-agriculture and youth empowerment.
The Shivir, which aims to strengthen the party, is likely to nominate Rahul Gandhi for the presidency once again. Rahul Gandhi was elected as the vice president in 2013, at a conference in Rajasthan’s Jaipur.
