THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that Kerala will receive extremely heavy rainfall for the next three days. Heavy rainfall is expected in southern and central Kerala. A red alert has been declared in Ernakulam and Idukki. These two districts will receive extremely heavy rainfall. Meanwhile, an orange alert has been declared in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, and Kottayam districts. These districts will receive heavy rainfall.
The IMD has warned people living in hilly and coastal areas to be vigilant. Fishing has been banned off the coasts of Kerala and Lakshadweep. This time, the monsoon will begin in the state at the end of May, officials said.
