CHITRAKOOT: A gang of thieves, who stole idols from a temple in Uttar Pradesh, returned the idols to the temple within a few days. The thieves had stolen 16 ashtadhatu idols worth several crores from the Balaji temple in Chitrakoot. The villagers are now happy to have their precious idols back.

A total of 16 ashtadhatu idols, made up of eight metals, were stolen on May 9. Fourteen of these idols were later found mysteriously in a sack near the residence of the temple priest. Sources said that the thieves also left a letter along with idols. The thieves reportedly wrote that they were unable to sleep peacefully ever since the theft as they had scary dreams at night.
