LUCKNOW: Indian wrestler Satendar Singh has been banned for lifetime by the Wrestling Federation of India for assaulting a referee. The incident took place at the IGI Stadium after Satendar Singh lost the 125kg final during the Commonwealth Games 2022 trials. Satendar Singh was defeated by Mohit Dahiya in the 125 kg final.
Association secretary Vinod Tomar said Satender would be banned for life on the instructions of Brij Bhushan. "The moment he punched the referee at the stadium we decided to impose a life ban on Satender Malik at same moment and he will not be allowed to take part in any event of wrestling from now onwards," Vinod Tomar said.
