THRIKKAKARA: Former minister KT Jaleel has come up with sharp criticism against the Muslim League. He said the IUML has a regressive stance and didn't have approach of keeping girls behind closed doors in the past.

"The League once created conditions for Muslim girls to grow up with girls from other communities. But the current position of the Muslim League is regressive. We all have a responsibility to ensure that the rights of the Constitution are upheld by all citizens. There is no difference between men and women", he said.

"Girls now appear for competitive examinations. No one can stop this progress, ”Jaleel added.

Jaleel was speaking to the media during the election campaign for LDF candidate Joe Joseph in Thrikkakara. He said that the people of Thrikkakara want development.

In response to opposition leader VD Satheesan's allegation that ministers are campaigning for votes based on caste and religion, Jaleel said that it is a UDF practice to campaign for religious votes.
