THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The KSRTC is buying700 new buses. CNG buses are being bought as part of the hike in the diesel price. The buses are being purchased at a cost of Rs 455 crore. KIIFB is financing the project at an interest rate of 4%. The decision to buy the bus was taken at the cabinet meet today. KSRTC is buying 700 CNG buses for Swift. The route of 700 fast passenger buses, which are now part of KSRTC, will now go to Swift. The old buses will be used for ordinary service when the new buses arrive. Employees will be rearranged and operate services.
In order to avoid the crisis of spending majority of the revenue for fuel, is turning to CNG bus. Through this, KSRTC aims to reduce costs and increase profits. This year after 2017, KSRTC purchased 116 new buses and is in service for the Swift. With the arrival of the new buses, public transport facilities will be improved and the revenue of KSRTC will increase significantly. With this, the ratio of buses to staff and fuel cost will come down, said Minister Antony Raju.
