KSRTC staff to get salaries tomorrow; transport minister changes stand

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A decision has been taken to pay salaries to the employees of KSRTC tomorrow. The transport minister had submitted the application for it to the finance department. The demand is for immediate release of Rs 30 crore.

The application was given soon after the transport minister called on the chief minister. Transport Minister Antony Raju said the finance department would decide whether to stand surety for the loan or provide financial assistance.

The finance department will hold talks with the minister tomorrow regarding it. Hoping to disburse salary from tomorrow. The finance department had granted Rs 30 crore for payment of salaries. Payment of salary was delayed due to non-availability of the remaining amount.

The transport minister had asserted that it is not the responsibility of the government to give salaries to KSRTC. Meantime, the minister said that he was convinced that the management could not find the money alone and that it is government’s need to hold KSRTC.
