Appraiser who was named accused fake gold pledging case attempts suicide, dies

KOZHIKODE: A bank appraiser, who attempted suicide by jumping in front of a train, died on Thursday. Mohanan, the appraiser of Kodiyathur Gramin Bank, was an accused in a fake gold pledging case.


Mohanan attempted suicide on Thursday morning by jumping in front of a train. Although he was rushed to the hospital, he was declared dead by evening.

Mohanan was accused in a case in which a number of persons allegedly swindled Rs 24.26 by pledging fake gold. Other accused in the case are Dalit Congress district secretary Vishnu Kayyoonummal, Kodiyathur panchayat vice president Babu Polukunnath, Mattumurikkal Santhosh Kumar, and Shiny.
